Do you have a big, scary writing project in mind? So big and scary that you're having trouble getting started? Writing on beliefnet.com, Stephen Ruppenthal had this tip:
"Just start. Don't think...get a pad of paper and pour out all the nagging resentments, fears, and worries that block you from starting an important project. Acknowledging feelings can enable us to move past them and really get started."
Even if you're not convinced, give it a try. Then use the same pad to jot down some of the key things you want to include in this writing project: it could be characters, settings, moments of action, lines of dialogue, whatever comes to mind. When you run out, stop. The next day, add to it. Keep doing that until you feel like you want to start writing--and then do!
