The official blog of Penguin Books UK is well worth a look. In a recent post, Colin Brush, Senior Copywriter, defined the attributes of a good writer's blog:
1) It should be personal - but not mundane.
2) The author should write about their work as well as their interests.
3) They should be entertaining company.
4) Posts should be regular and frequent.
He adds: "Unsurprisingly, few author blogs manage all four. Most writers have more pressing matters to attend to."
Oh oh. I'm not the best judge of whether my blog achieves criteria 1 and 3, but I do post regularly and frequently...does this mean I don't have enough other pressing matters to attend to? Anyway, if you're thinking of starting a blog, Brush's four standards are worth aiming for.
