In the last few days the "New Media Academic Summit 2007" has been taking place, organized by Edelman Media Services, and the cool thing is that they have put the sessions online as free videos here. The one I've just been listening to is 45 minutes on "Co-Creating Content." The panel includes Bob Mankoff, Cartoon Editor at the New Yorker, and Tim and Tina Zagat of the Zagat guides. (By the way, Mankoff mentiones that the New Yorker gets 1000 cartoons submitted per week, out of which they select 17 to use.)
There are also sessions on "The Changing Media Environment" and "What's Next for New Media."
If you've read the new media chapter in my new book, "Your Writing Coach," you know that I think the new media will offer us writers lots of opportunities and it behooves us to stay on top of new developments. If you agree, you might want have a look at a couple of these sessions.
