Rejection goes with the territory of being a writer, but that doesn't make it easier to take. But here's an encouraging quote by a wonderful artist named Harley Brown. This is what he wrote about discouragement in the arts world--as you'll see, it applies to pretty much any creative endeavor:
"Discouragement runs in the art world. A few rejections are all some artists need to end their dreams. It was my good fortune that I was quite immune to giving up as an artist. My life as an artist was very simple: I painted all the time and people didn't buy my works most of the time. But that equation slowly turned around. Here's the Real World: There are many people who want skillful, original, intuitive art. If you can eventually develop yourself into that category, they will beat a path to your door."
Well, sometimes they go next door by mistake, but I also do believe sometimes they show up. And if they don't, I guess we have to beat a path to THEIR door.
