One of the more bizarre creative experiments around is the website "Garfield Minus Garfield." It shows the Garfield comic strip with Garfield the cat removed, so generally all you see is Jon, his owner. It's surprising how effective some of them are, in a surreal way (that suggests that Jon is suffering from bipolar disorder or worse). Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, calls it fascinating and hasn't object on the basis that his copyright is being violated (which is clearly is). See Garfield Minus Garfield here.
