Thanks to Ruth Demitroff for sending me an article from Harvard Health regarding beating Seasonal Affective Disorder.
It warns that there is a small danger of retinal damage from bright light therapy, especially if you are taking melatonin, St. John’s Wort, first-generation anti-psychotics, or lithium, or have diabetes or retinopathies.
I wasn’t aware of this, and it may be relevant since I’ve had laser treatment to strengthen my retinas. It’s also not advised for people who are bi-polar. If you’re suffering from SAD and are considering bright light therapy, consult your eye doctor first.
(And if you're reading this on New Years' Day, when it was posted...what resolutions might be good for you to make regarding your health? I know that it's only when I'm sick that I fully appreciate how great it is to be healthy but I strive to think about it at other times and make the right choices.)
