Playwright and director Jezz Butterworth told The
Guardian’s Mark Lawson that "If we'd done this
interview four years ago, I would have been saying that I couldn't think of any
stage plays and that I was teaching myself the craft of screenwriting. I think
the problem was that, when I lived in London, I was just too distracted.
Looking back, I spent a lot of time sitting in pubs when I should have been
perfecting my playwriting."
He credits his move to Somerset, where he runs a small farm and raises and eats his own pigs, with prompting a burst of creativity.
I’m not sure pigs need to be involved but it does show that a change of scene and routine can jar you out of a rut.
