Now
here’s an author willing to put his money (time and effort) where his desire
is. Marc Fitten is visiting 100 independent book stores to promote his first novel,
“Valeria’s Last Stand,” and blogging about what makes them unique. The road
trip will take—as long as it takes. As I write this, he’s only on number 5
(number 1-2 were in Atlanta, 3-5 are in Boston).
It’s a clever strategy—the shops he visits probably will give his book a featured spot, and book lovers will be curious to see pictures and stories about the rapidly vanishing breed of indie bookshops.
His novel is not self-published, it was published by Bloomsbury in May 2009 and the rights for five other language editions have been sold. You can read about the book at www.marcfitten.com.
