“Good to Know” is a little magazine that you can buy either as a PDF download or as a hard copy. Each issue features designers, artists, and illustrators answering one question. You can also read the answers at the website, but you won’t get the illustrations that the respondents often add. In the first issue, the question was, “What is your biggest stumbling block to creativity and what works for you in overcoming these setbacks?” Here are a few excerpts that include tips that will work for writers, too:
“My biggest stumbling block to creativity is insecurity or apprehension…I may want to tackle a new project or something I’ve never tried before, a departure from the norm, maybe…what works for me in overcoming these setbacks, is to just dive right in and remind myself that the first try is the most important and that there is perfection in the process.”
-- Rachael Amen
“Creating for yourself with no pressure is a good start to building confidence, especially when you post work online and it gets encouragement and good feedback.”
-- Heidi Burton
“It also became very clear to me that building friendship and developing a positive support system with others build creativity. Getting support and love from other creative friends inspire me.
-- Jacqueline Low
