Day 1 is a brain dump--you write a stream-of-consciousnes very rough first draft, with no stops for editing or changing.
Day 2 is refinement--you organize the ideas, you check the spelling and grammar, etc.
Day 3 is polishing.
Of course this is pretty much the standard approach, but I think anybody who has trouble getting started will benefit from consciously separating these stages from each other day by day. By putting that time barrier between each of the three phases, you lose the pressure to get it right immediately.
Depending on the size of the project, naturally it may take longer than one day for each of these phases but if you feel blocked, try this approach.
