An interesting rights case: Bluewater Productions plans to issue a comic book that is an unauthorized biography of teen singing sensation Justin Bieber. But they've been hit with a cease-and-desist order from licensing attorney Kenneth Feinswog, who represents Bieber (as well as Lady GaGa).
Bluewater says it's their First Amendment right to publish "truthful expressive works." If it's OK to publish unauthorized biographies of public figures in text, why not in comic book form?
My guess is that they will be told to have a clear statement on the cover that this is not authorized merchandise, but we'll see what the courts say.
