Andy Shack had a useful tip on his blog a little while ago, aimed at writers whose inner critic interrupts their creative flow with demands that they fix any problems in their prose RIGHT NOW!
The tip is to use a symbol like the hash tag or, since I don't have that one on my keyboard, the percentage sign: % to mark the spot you need to come back to when it's time to edit.
For instance, if I'm writing something set in 1985 and have someone listening to the radio, instead of stopping to research what the hit songs were that year, I might write, "% was playing on the radio when Marcus came in."
When I'm ready to start going over it, I can use the "find" function in Word to locate all the % symbols and do whatever's necessary.
Simple and useful!
