If you are a published author (book or articles) have you joined the Author's Guild? Maybe you should. One of the great services they offer is free contract reviews for members. If a publisher has slipped in something that is questionable, the Guild will highlight it and advise you.
This one service alone is worth the $90 annual membership fee (there's also a provision for additional dues for very high-earning writers, but it doesn't apply to most).
No, I'm not on commission, I just think this is one of those resources that takes some of the anxiety out of being a free-lance writer. You can get more information at http://www.authorsguild.org.
By the way, even if you're not published yet, it's worth having a look at their site--their blog will keep you up to date on the most recent developments in publishing--things like the Google Settlement, the new ebook policy from Random House that is good news for authors and local bookstores, etc.
