If you’re stuck or even if you’d just like to step back a little and make sure that your writing or other aspects of your life are on target, try writing a letter to yourself.
Address yourself in the third person (Dear your name) and write it like you’re writing to your best friend. This kind of dissociation gives insights that are hard to get when you’re in the normal, associated, state.
Here are a few topics you might want to address, stated as the start of sentences:
- This past year has been…
- At the moment, I think you…
- One challenge you might want to address is…
- You may not be giving yourself enough credit for…
- Please don’t forget about…
- This next part of your life…
Have fun with it and you may just be amazed at what you learn.
