If it's true that people's attention spans are getting shorter, will they be drawn back to short stories? Or will short stories still be too long? If so, maybe it's time for poetry to become popular. Maybe something like this one by Charles Bukowski that I happened on today:
But then, maybe not, because good poetry isn't something to glance it. It may take only a minute to read, but when it's good it demands at least another ten minutes of thought. If it's very good, it distracts you for the rest of the day. Sometimes for the rest of your life. We can't have that, can we?
