Ray Bradbury has died, age 91. He was writing up until the end, despite having suffered a stroke some time ago. He also continued fighting on behalf of libraries and encouraging new writers.
As a young teen I loved his books, "The Illustrated Man,""Something Wicked This Way Comes," "Dandelion Wine," "Fahrenheit 451," and "Martian Chronicles."
As a young aspiring writer I was inspired by his passionate accounts of what it meant to be a writer.
As a no-longer-young writer I have been equally inspired by his commitment to continuing to tell wonderful stories and supporting libraries.
I feature a number of quotes from Bradbury in my latest book, "Your Creative Writing Masterclass"--in fact, I had to cut back on them because I wanted to use so many. He will be missed but his example as well as his works will live for a long time.
