It's VideoTips time here at the Time to Write blog! Over the next few weeks I'm going to feature videos, mostly short, featuring some of the most accomplished writers who have advice writers can use.
To start us off, Terry Gilliam answers three questions: how he got started in film, his greatest influences, and his advice for aspiring film writers and filmmakers.
I think the best tip is actually part of his first answer. He learned by doing. If you want to make films, you can do exactly what he did. If you want to write but not direct or produce them, you can do the same thing by substituting the word "script" for the word "film" when he talks about the weekend projects he mentions:
