We all need a little extra motivation from time to time, not only on Monday mornings. One thing that has a huge effect on how we feel is what we're looking for.
If you want to feel overwhelmed or depressed, here are a few things to focus on:
* What you haven't achieved yet
* What went wrong recently
* What mistakes you made recently
* What people owe you (favors, gratitude, etc.)
* What's worse than it used to be
* The things you can't do as well as you used to
* What people could be doing for you
On the other hand, if you want to feel good, shift your focus to:
* What you have achieved
* What went well recently
* What you got right recently
* What others have given you
* What's better than it used to be
* The things you can do better than you used to (keep your temper, appreciate life, etc.)
* What you could be doing for other people
I'm not suggesting you ignore the negatives, but putting your attention on the positives will make you happier and more popular. If you're having a dark day, try seeing the day's events through the filter of the second list.
