Crime writers and readers might be interested in the research done by the author of the German book called "Are Women Better Murderers?" She concluded that for sure they're the more creative ones.
She cites the example of a woman who gave her partner a deep kiss, in the process slipping a cyanide capsule into his mouth. Very creative, although it could have gone very wrong had she suddenly suffered from hiccups.
Women seldom murder strangers and often such killings are in response to prolonged abuse, including the case of a woman who beat her husband to death with a frying pan.
However, women also commit many fewer murders than men--it's about ten to one.
The book is available only in German at the moment, the author is forensic psychiatrist Sigrun Rossman. There's more from her in an (English language) article at Spiegel.de.
