A story in today's London Evening Standard is headlined, "Heroic parrot rescues female owner from attack in park."
It was a bit of a let-down to read what the parrot's "heroic" action was: "But the attacker was stopped in his tracks after the parrot flapped his wings and squawked, startling the man, who ran off down Great North Road."
However, the bird turned out to have more impressive powers, judging by this sentence in the article: "The woman and the parrot escaped unscathed and called the police."
Presumably the woman held the phone and the parrot pecked the number.
