There seems to be an epidemic of word conflation:
"China and Russia Will Takeover Economic Lead"
"How this model can takeoff"
"Become an e-learning rockstar" (recognized as one word in the Urban Dictionary, otherwise it's rock star).
And a few bloopers:
‘[he] didn’t fair so well, either."
"Newer double-pained, energy-efficient windows/doors..."
and my favorite, from USA Today:
"The Oakland County Animal Control Office took the dog in custody and will be put to sleep."
