Here are the resolutions I'm making regarding the internet:
- I will not open any email that promises "insane" anything (e.g., "Insane results"). Likewise, any that promise a "weird trick" that will give amazing results.
- I will not click on any listicle that promises that I'll love number 6 or be amazed by number 9. Likewise, any that offer to inform be about something I won't believe ("You won't believe what Donald Trump just said!")...probably I will believe it but I'll be sorry I bothered to read it.
- I'll unsubscribe from any list that consistently sends repeats of the same message "because we had a technical glitch and you may not have received our first email."
- For news articles, I'll stick to sources that tell me what happened rather than saving the important bit for the article (e.g., "President Announces Decision on Pipeline" vs. "President Approves Pipeline."
- I won't open any emails that have the subject line, "Bad news!" Usually, the bad news is that some offer I didn't go for the first few times around is about to run out, which is good news as far as I'm concerned.
Feel free to add your own internet-related resolutions in the comments section.
